Yolanda E. “Viola” Geci

Yolanda E. “Viola” Geci, 95, of 1173 Million Dollar Highway, Kersey, passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 8, 2014, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, at Penn Highlands Elk.

She was born February 8, 1919 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Anthony and Lucia Pasta Salvatore.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Sacred Heart School and St. Marys Public schools.

On June 15, 1940 in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Lucian M. Geci, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1982.

She is survived by two daughters, Florence Wolfe and her husband David of St. Marys and Rita Wiesner and her husband Thomas of St. Marys; eight sons, Karl Geci and his wife Mary of St. Marys, Donald Geci and his wife Char of St. Marys, Herman Geci and his wife Jackie of Raleigh, NC, Raymond Geci of Kersey, Richard Geci and his wife Cindy of St. Marys, David Geci and his wife Annette of St. Marys, Daniel Geci and his wife Christy of Kersey, and James Geci and his wife Barb of St. Marys; 42 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Geci of Rochester, NY; one daughter-in-law, Marie Bauer and her husband David of St. Marys; and one son-in-law, James Wittman of St. Louis, MO.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Wittman and Patricia Jean Geci, who passed away in infancy; one son, Lucian M. Geci, Jr. who passed away in 1974; one grandson, Michael Geci; two sisters, Mary Dandrea and Anna Fleming; and five brothers, Matthew Salvatore, Anthony Salvatore, Lawrence Salvatore, Joseph Salvatore, and Albert Salvatore.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Geci was a member of the St. Boniface Church.  She was a past president of the Rosary Altar Society and had been a Rosarian for 74 years.  She was a member and a past chaplain of the Fox Twp. Senior Center and was very devoted to the Blessed Mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Friday, December 12, 2014, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
