Walter W. Beimel, 82, of 812 Shelvey Summit Road, Kersey, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born December 27, 1939, in St. Marys, son of the late Maynard J. “Jiggs” and Ruth Williamson Beimel. Walter was a lifelong resident of Kersey, attended Kersey High School and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1960. He was a committed employee for Carbon Graphite where he retired after 40 years of service to the company.
In 1980, Walter married Stephanie Pisoni Beimel, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters: Theresa Edgar (Chris) of Ridgway and Irene Holjencin (Joe) of Kersey; two sons: Don Beimel (Gina) of Kersey and Todd Beimel (Tiffany) of Ridgway; ten grandchildren: April Shipe, Kimberly Edgar, Autumn Edgar, Ashley McCandless, Katlyn McCandless, Justin Beimel, Allison Beimel, Derek Beimel, Dana Beimel, and Mike Beimel; six great-grandchildren: Blake, Julianne, Lexi, Jason, Irvin, and Olivia; by five brothers: Carl Beimel of Kersey, Ronald Beimel (Marge) of Kersey, Jim Beimel (Bea) of Kersey, Harold Beimel (Diana) of Kersey, and Roger Beimel (Lucy) of Kersey; by a sister-in-law, Betty Ann Beimel; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Beimel; by a son, David Beimel; and by three brothers: Frank Beimel, Sylvester Beimel, and Melvin Beimel.
Walter was a member of the St. Boniface Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. Family came first for Walter. He loved to support his children and grandchildren at their many activities and cherished each moment that he spent with them. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, valuing the beautiful nature that his county and surrounding counties had to offer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
