Virginia L. Eckert, 84, of 81 Blackberry Drive, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born April 12, 1936, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Peitro and Mary Roberto Paolello. Virginia was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Leo’s High School. She was a former employee of Quality Components in Daguscahonda.
On August 29, 1959, in the St. Leo’s Church, Virginia married Donald S. Eckert, who preceded her in death on February 14, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Meyer of Erie; two sons: Henry J. Eckert and his wife Jamie, and Donald J. Eckert and his wife Nancy, both of St. Marys; ten grandchildren: Adam, Katie, Emily, Sarah, Jacob, Emma, Baylor, Kevin, Ben, and Amy; nine great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Annie Roof of Ridgway.
In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two grandchildren at birth; three sisters: Lucille Grabowski, Jane Cinquanto, and Josephine D’Angelo; and by three brothers: Clarence, Mike, and Peitro Paolello.
Virginia was a member of the Queen of the World Church. She enjoyed knitting and cooking, but above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
