Timothy John Sorg

Timothy John Sorg, 63, of Oak Manor One, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Penn Highlands Elk after a brief illness.

He was born November 28, 1950 in St. Marys, son of the late Leonard George and Rita Krellner Sorg.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Our Lady Special School in the St. Joseph’s Monastery.

He is survived by eight siblings, David J. Sorg and his wife Ann Friedl Sorg of St. Marys, Rose Mary Sorg Quinnan and her husband Stephen of Moneta, VA, Ruth Sorg of Collegeville, PA, Dr. Maurus Sorg and his wife Dr. Rosemaria Cienciva of St. Marys, Mamie Sorg Steimling and her husband Michael of Mifflinburg, PA, Daniel Sorg of St. Marys, Anne Sorg Pistner and her husband Donald of St. Marys, and Amy Sorg Bencic of Homer City, PA; nine nieces, seven nephews, two grandnieces, and four grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1997; his father in 2004; a sister-in-law, Sharon Vollmer Sorg in 1999; and a brother-in-law, John Bencic in 2012.

Tim was born with emotional and mental challenges, but as a result of his special needs, pivotal community programs and facilities were initiated.  Through the hard work of dedicated advocates, Elcam Industries and the Oak Manor facilities were established, where Tim worked and lived for many years.

Tim had an insatiable interest in calendars.  He was able to name the date and day of the week for birthdays and holidays, regardless of the year.  He loved music, singing, and watching television.  He enjoyed holiday festivities and visiting with family.   He was a parishioner of Queen of the World Parish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, and the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB concelebrating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
