Theodore J. “Teddy” Sporner, 74, of 418 West Creek Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 3, 1938, in St. Marys, son of the late Aloysius B. and Alberta J. Wortman Sporner. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools. He was a retired employee of PennDOT, retiring in 1998.
He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Garcia of St. Marys and Susan (Theron) Steffan of Kane.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Sporner, James Sporner, and in infancy, John Sporner.
Mr. Sporner served in the US Army, serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed working at his sawmill and operating heavy equipment.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
