Steven R. “Rick” Ginther, 73, of 1981 Bucktail Road, St. Marys, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 4, 1948, in St. Marys, son of the late Richard and Edna Geeck Ginther. Rick was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1966. He was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company, retiring after 45 years of service.
On September 23, 1977, in the Queen of the World Church, Rick married Barbara W. Wolfe, who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Cristin Lilley (Michael) of Warren; two grandchildren, Hayden and Addison; three sisters: Marcia Bauer (Paul) of Halifax, MA; Lucy Buckley (Bill) of Middlesex, MA; and Patricia Fledderman (Richard) of Kersey; three brothers: Raymond Ginther (Lynda) of McKeesport; Paul Ginther (Judy) of Ludlow; and Ken Ginther of St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Wheeler (Charles) of St. Marys and Kathy Hoch (Charles) of Greensburg; his brother-in-law, Dan Wolfe (Louann) of Emporium; and by nieces and nephews.
Rick was a member of the Queen of the World Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He liked to watch baseball and football and going to the casino. Rick was a caring man who touched so many lives. He will be forever missed but his love will continue to live on in his family’s hearts.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
