Shirley A. Schneider, 79, 118 Fairview Road, Kersey, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014, at Penn Highlands Elk after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 17, 1935 in Kersey, daughter of the late George and Caroline Stauffer Woelfel. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1953. She was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company and retired from Osram Sylvania.
On June 23, 1956 in the St. Boniface Church, she married Gerald F. Schneider, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Ann Bolden of St. Marys; two sons, David A. Schneider of Kersey and Doug J. Schneider and his wife Lisa of St. Marys; ten grandchildren, Erica Sankey, Justin Schneider, Ryan Schneider, Ethan Schneider, Devin Folk, Danielle Schneider, Montana Schneider, Cherokee Schneider, Matthew Bolden, and Kyle Bolden; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Sara Facchine of St. Marys.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gregory D. Schneider; a son-in-law, Tim Bolden; a brother, Wray Woelfel; and a grandson, Andrew Bolden.
Mrs. Schneider was a member of the St. Boniface Church. She was a very faithful person and a great mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held in the St. Boniface Church on Friday, October 31, 2014, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
