Shirley C. Brock

Shirley C. Brock, formerly of St. Marys, passed away July 19, 2018 in Pittsburgh, PA, at the age 76. Shirley was the daughter of the late Timothy and Angelina Capuccini Cuneo. She is survived by her husband, James J. Brock; three daughters, Kathleen “Katie” Munive and her husband Roberto of Gainesville, VA; Barbara Jones and her husband Leslie of Paulsbo, WA; and Anne-Marie Crawford and her husband Thomas of Bethel Park; a son, Stephen Brock, and his wife Tshawna of Fairfax VA; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; her sister, Verena Cuneo of St. Marys; and brother, Gerald Cuneo of Columbus OH. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Giulio Corradi and Silvio Cuneo; and two sisters, Lauretta “Dolly” Cuneo Friedl and Angeline “Jeanne” Cuneo Hasselman.

Shirley was born in Squab Hollow and moved with her family to St. Marys. She attended Central Catholic High School, where she graduated as valedictorian.  Even before graduation, Shirley began teaching piano lessons for Hal Fritz Piano Company and was a dedicated piano teacher for 60 years. She married James Brock, son of the late Edna Fritz Brock, on July 22, 1961.

Shirley was a wonderful mother to her children. She worked as the assistant and then was elected tax collector for Benzinger Township.  She later graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in accounting. For nearly thirty years, Shirley owned Brock Income Tax Preparation Service on Brusselles Street. Shirley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was the church organist and music director. She presided over the Relief Society and later the Young Women organizations for many years.

A public viewing for those that wish to pay final respects will be at Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38101-9908.
