Sharon M. Largey

November 8, 1948 — September 4, 1970

Sharon Marie Largey, age 69, died peacefully at her home at 304 Charles Street, Saint Marys, Pennsylvania after a struggle with cancer. Sharon was born on November 8, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Richard Fazzio and Norma Bakowski.

On September 4, 1970, Sharon married the love of her life, Peter Ambrose Largey of Saint Marys, Pennsylvania. During this time, she worked at Buffalo Goodwill Industries until 1971. That year she gave birth to her first child. They experienced the loss of their first child that same year. From 1972 to 1973, Sharon was a house parent for the first group home for the mentally challenged in Syracuse, New York. It was a co-ed group home. In 1973, they moved to Saint Marys, Pennsylvania. From 1973 to 1984, Sharon was a housewife and mother of four living children. From 1985 through December 2017, Sharon worked at Elcam, Inc. of Saint Marys, Pennsylvania as the Administrative Assistant.

In addition to raising their four children, Sharon was a volunteer and active member of the Saint Marys Church. She also volunteered for Elcam Club, a club to provide fun-filled activities for adults with mental and physical challenge, for eight years. She decorated the Elcam Community Center for all Elcam Club activities and formal functions at Elcam for eight years while she was employed by Elcam, Inc. She loved to dance like her parents and could perform all of the dances of the 50s and 60s. She also enjoyed raising greenery, cooking the best homemade meals for her family, having the best sleepovers with the grandkids, and hosting family dinner each Sunday and all holidays. The love of God and family were the most important things in her life.

Despite her struggle with cancer, she had her grandchildren for sleepovers several times each week. She also canned 100 jars of tomatoes and over 50 quarts of green beans this past summer. She also froze fresh corn from the garden. Her husband, Pete, is an avid gardener, and she would still cook breakfast for him in the morning and supper at night using the fresh fruit and vegetables from his garden until a few weeks before she passed. She even mowed the lawn. She continued to work part-time at Elcam, Inc. after she was diagnosed with cancer in January 2016 and would even go to work the day after she finished each cancer treatment. She was strong-willed and dedicated to her career and family and didn’t let sickness and cancer treatments stop her from working and spending precious time with her family.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Richard Fazzio of Florida and her sister, Carol Fazzio of New York. Also surviving is Sharon’s husband, Peter Largey; daughters: Naomi A. Tucker and her husband, Olin of Saint Marys; Natasha Largey of Bradford; and Tristin Bleggi and her husband, Aaron of Saint Marys; a son, Peter Largey and his wife, Lisa of Saint Marys; nine grandchildren: Tabatha, Kristin, Isabella, Mia, Rylee, Dylan, Kyle, Ethan, and Lexie; two great-grandchildren: Stan Rae and Colton; and many other relatives.

There will be no visitation.
