Sharon M. Erich

Sharon M. Erich, 69, of 2604 Red Mill Road, Smethport, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Penn Highlands Elk.

She was born September 12, 1956, in St. Marys, daughter of the late David and Martha Snyder Blessel.  She was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, and a former employee at SGL Carbon.

On May 5, 2005, in St. Marys, Sharon married the late Theodore M. Erich, Sr., who preceded her in death on January 18, 2022.

She is survived by her children: Angela Copello, Kevin Copello, and Tammy McTaggart, all of of St. Marys; six grandchildren: Cheyenne, Samantha, Hope, Isaac, Gina, and Alex; and six great-grandchildren; five sisters: Judy King, Sally Courteau, Debby Penfield, Carol Bush, and Sandy Ohl; two brothers: David Blessel, Jr. and John Blessel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Collins and a brother, James Blessel.

She was a kind and generous woman who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  She was independent to the core and famously stubborn, she faced life on her own terms.  In her quieter moments, she found joy in a good game of bingo and the simple pleasures of time well spent with her family.  Her family was the center of her world.  She will be missed.

Sharon’s family will celebrate her life at a future date.
