Sara A. “Sally” Bolden

Sara A. “Sally” Bolden, 79, of 185 Center Street, Elk Towers, and formerly of Maurus Street, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a lengthy illness.

She was born October 10, 1937, in Meyersdale, PA, daughter of the late Bernard J. and Helen Tipton Lenhart Murphy. She had been a resident of St. Marys since 1966 and was a graduate of Meyersdale High School, Class of 1955.  Sally attended the Art Institute in Pittsburgh and earned her Nursing Degree from Pitt at Bradford.  She was a former Registered Nurse at Pinecrest Manor.

On November 22, 1956, in the St. Philip and James Church in Meyersdale, Sally married Donald P. Bolden, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 4, 1989.

She is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Tobin and her husband William of Lincoln University, PA, Christine Auman, and her husband Thomas of St. Marys, and Jessica Kunes and her husband Aaron of Weedville; a son, Donald P. Bolden, Jr. and his wife Caroline of St. Marys; 16 grandchildren, Danielle Roman, Ryan Tobin, Mark Tobin, Craig Tobin, Leanna Tobin, Julia Tobin, Benjamin Auman, Robert Auman, Thomas Auman, Jr., Justin Bolden, Brandon Bolden, Jeremy Bolden, Matthew Bolden, Kyle Bolden, Maria Kunes, and Sophie Kunes; eight great grandchildren; and by a daughter-in-law, Ann Bolden of St. Marys.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sally was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Bolden on July 8, 1981; a son, Andrew “Tim” Bolden on July 25, 2011; a grandson, Andrew Bolden; her stepfather, Andrew Lenhart; and her stepmother, Louise Murphy.

Sally was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. She was an artist and a master seamstress and was the former owner of Sara Fabrics in St. Marys.  Sally enjoyed traveling, reading, and especially being with her family.

Due to the renovation of the Sacred Heart Church, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Parish Center on Friday, September 22, 2017, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, September 21, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
