Sandra M. Kronenwetter, 90, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born February 19, 1936, in Mt. Jewett, daughter of the late Walter and Ellen Hartshorne Donahey. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1954. During those years, Sandy worked alongside her parents and sisters to run the Towne House Inn on Center Street.
On June 25, 1955, in Sacred Heart Church, Sandra married the late Richard P. “Dick” Kronenwetter, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2014.
Sandy is survived by two daughters: Mary Kay Gleixner (Steve) of St. Marys and Judi Skrzypek (Vince) Kersey; a son, Dan Kronenwetter (Charity) of Glenwood, MD; nine grandchildren: Molly Destephano (Nick), Danielle Wolfel, Brian Skrzypek (Michelle), Amber Skrzypek, Jennifer Skrzypek (Owen), Michelle Skrzypek, David Skrzypek, Aiden Kronenwetter, and Noah Kronenwetter; seven great-grandchildren: Ziggy, Brycen, Everleigh, Vinny, Shawn, Jacob, and Simon; four great-great grandchildren: a sister, Patricia Kneidel (Mike) of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Samick.
Sandy loved being a homemaker and dedicated her life to caring for her family. She cherished her grandchildren, pets, soft stuffed animals, gardening with her husband, flowers, and enjoyed putting puzzles together. She loved living near the Community Pool and Park, often spending days on her front porch swing listening to children playing at the park, pool, and baseball games or just chatting with the neighbors.
Her favorite pastime was faithfully watching daily soap operas with her husband, Dick. She helped him with his woodworking, stenciling step stools, and attending every one of his craft shows. Sandy also loved going on car rides with him, no matter the destination, especially when ice cream was involved, as long as they were together. Sandy was a devoted parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church, volunteering with the Bereavement Committee and spending many years helping at the Christian Food Bank.
