Sally S. Story, 90, formerly of St. Marys, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Nelson’s Golden Years in DuBois.
She was born August 13, 1936, in Greensburg, daughter of the late Harry C. and Evelyn Hallam Story. Sally was a graduate of Greensburg High School as well as California State University. She was a retired English and Literature teacher from the St. Marys Area School District, retiring in 1996.
She is survived by her children: Scott Girts (JoAnn) of Ridgway, Terry Khoury (John) of Lawrence, PA and Tracy Carnovale (Perry “Chip”) of Kersey; seven grandchildren: Jessica Santiso (Frankie), Joshua Girts (Jenna), Emile Khoury (Nancy), Samantha Schulz (Evan), Kali Larkin (Dustin), Kara Nelson (Dylan), and Karly McLaughlin (Joey); thirteen great-grandchildren; and by two step-grandchildren: Christopher Allegretto and Todd Allegretto (Lori).
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her step-granddaughter, Arlene Allegretto.
Sally had a love for reading, playing golf, and had a passion for traveling the world, always eager to discover new places, experience different cultures, and embrace all that life had to offer. For twelve years Sally called Las Cruces, NM her home, where she formed many dear friendships, whether at the museum in which she worked or playing Mahjong. She was a proud member of the American Association of University Women and the Red Hat Society.
Sally loved life. She lived on her own terms, with a spirit and personality all her own. She will be remembered for her love of adventure, her independence, and for “doing it her way”.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857, on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 1:00PM until 2:30PM. Sally’s family will share a few words and stories at 2:30PM.
