Rudy Verbka, Jr.

March 25, 2015 — February 23, 1939

Rudy Verbka, Jr., 76, of 276 Coal Hollow Road, Kersey, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Penn Highlands DuBois, after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 23, 1939 in Punxsutawney, son of the late Rudy and Dollie Salsgiver Verbka, Sr.  He was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School and had moved to Kersey in 1970.  He was a retired employee of Industrial Steel and Pipe Supply.

On July 24, 1965 in Anita, PA, he married Joan G. Gresock, who preceded him in death on April 20, 2014.

He is survived by two daughters, Lori Micsky and her husband David of Mercer and Jill Nash and her husband Michael of Youngsville, NC; five grandchildren, Ryan Micsky, Christopher Micsky, Kate Verbka, Aidan Nash, and Cooper Nash; a sister, Diane Swope of Luthersburg, PA; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Verbka of Cabot, PA; and a brother-in-law, Mark Gresock and his wife Patty of Sykesville.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph M. Verbka; and a brother, who passed away in childhood.

Mr. Verbka was a member of the St. Boniface Church.  He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Fox Twp. Lions Club, the Kersey Eagles, and the Dagus Mines American Legion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the Adrian/Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery in Anita, PA.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and at the St. Boniface Church Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until Mass time.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Dagus Mines Knights of Columbus, 131 Scotland Street, Dagus Mines, PA  15831.
