Rosemary A. “Rosie” Brendel, 88, of 479 West Creek Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born April 11, 1924 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Philip and Mary Wolfe Lecker. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, Ace Vending and had volunteered for the American Red Cross. She had also worked at the St. Mary’s Parochial School Cafeteria for many years.
On August 28, 1949 in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Raymond C. Brendel, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Julie Brendel of St. Marys; a son, Steven Brendel of St. Marys; a grandson, Dan (Brittany) Brendel, a great granddaughter, McKinnley Brendel; a sister, Alice DeStephano of St. Marys; and nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Andres and, in childhood, Nancy Lecker.
Mrs. Brendel was a member of the St. Mary’s Church and the CD of A.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services to be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, OSB, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
