Roger Albert Padasak, 82, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 590 Walnut Street, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Elk Haven after a lengthy illness.
He was born January 14, 1933 in Wilcox, son of the late Peter and Antonia Feikles Padasak. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Wilcox Schools. He was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company, retiring in 1995 after 28 years of service.
On July 13, 1957 in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married his loving wife, Elizabeth “Delores” Mishenko, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Cindy Lee Geci and her husband Richard of St. Marys; two sons, Roger Alan Padasak of San Diego, CA and Peter Paul Padasak and his wife Ida of Johnsonburg; nine grandchildren, Lauralee Geci, John Geci, Joshua Padasak, Michael Padasak, Elle Padasak, Troy Padasak, Chelsey Padasak, Gabrielle Padasak, and Zachery Padasak; two great grandchildren, Brayden Steinbach and Brielle Steinbach; one sister, Eleanor Lozinski and her husband Stanley of Greenville, PA; three brothers, Joseph Padasak and his wife Virginia of Wilcox, Elmer Padasak and his wife Mary Lou of Fort Edward, NY, and Lawrence Padasak of Jamestown, NY; one sister-in-law, Virginia Padasak of St. Marys, and one brother-in-law, Richard Dill of Streetman, TX.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David “Poogie” Padasak on October 28, 1994; two sisters, Ann Beckwith and Margaret Dill; four brothers, Edward Padasak, Frank Padasak, Peter Padasak, and Andrew Padasak; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Padasak, Mary Ella Padasak, Frances Padasak, and Matilda Padasak; and one brother-in-law, Elmo Beckwith.
Mr. Padasak was a member of the Queen of the World Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the Army, and was a member and greeter at Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Eustis, FL. He was a former member of the Wilcox Sportsmen’s Club for many years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone in need.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, February 23, 2015, at 12:30 PM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
