Robert R. Schauer, Sr., 76, of 102 Cherry Road, Kersey, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 23, 2015, at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born July 2, 1938 in St. Marys, son of the late Wilfred and Marcella Lecker Schauer. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1956. He was a lifelong mechanic and owner of the former B & B Sunoco in St. Marys. He was also a retired employee of the Keystone Powdered Metal Company, retiring in 2002.
On January 25, 1985 in St. Marys, he married Joyce Blessel Krise, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Robert R. Schauer, Jr. of Force; four step sons, Steve Krise and his wife Beth of Zanesville, OH, Richard Krise of Kersey, Scott Krise and his wife Natalie of DuBois, and Jeffrey Krise and his wife Joanna of Lawrence, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Eric Singer, Ryan Krise, Joshua Krise, Shane Krise, Ashley Krise, Brittany Krise, Emily Krise, Jeremy Krise, Abi Krise, Stevie Krise, and Eddi Krise; one great granddaughter, Mykenna Dinsmore; and a brother, Wayne Schauer and his wife Aletha of Kersey.
Mr. Schauer was a member of the St. Boniface Church and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Camp Owners and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a wonderful husband and father who enjoyed being with his family, could fix anything, and helped anyone in need.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Monday, January 26, 2015, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
