Robert J. “Red” Meholic

April 29, 2014 — February 27, 1930

Robert J. “Red” Meholic, Sr., 84, a resident of Christ the King Manor in DuBois and formerly of 692 Washington Street, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday morning, April 29, 2014, at Christ the King Manor after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 27, 1930 in Martinsburg, NY, son of the late John and Frances Knouse Meholic.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1949.  He was a retired employee of Pure Industries, retiring in 1989 with over 40 years of service.

On July 26, 1952 in St. Marys, he married Doris Roth who preceded him in death on June 10, 1989.

He is survived by four sons, Steve Meholic and his wife Karen of St. Marys, Robert Meholic, Jr. and his wife Susan of St. Marys, Allan Meholic and his wife Janice of St. Marys, and John Meholic and his wife Cathy of St. Marys; nine grandchildren, Michael Meholic, Bradley Meholic, Lindsey Straub, Scott Meholic, Jeffrey Meholic, Matthew Meholic, Chad Meholic, Jared Meholic, and Alexa Meholic; and one great grandson, Easton Straub.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary O’Dell and Tina Brem; and one brother, John Meholic who died in childhood.  He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Meholic was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in the Korean War.  He volunteered at the Christian Food Bank, Elk Regional Health Center, and Sacred Heart Church.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Friday, May 2, 2014, at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 PM.
