Robert J. Hupfer

February 25, 2015 — August 4, 1929

Robert J. Hupfer, 85, of 128 Averyville Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday morning, February 25, 2015, at the Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.

He was born August 4, 1929 in St. Marys, son of the late John and Gertrude Feldbauer Hupfer.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1947.  He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring in 1991 after 43 years of service as a First Class Tool and Die Maker.

On August 8, 1959 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Fidelis Goodreau, who survives.  He is also survived by a daughter, Patricia Hupfer and husband Mark Hayman of Berryville, VA; two sons, John Hupfer (Nanna Bush) and Karl Hupfer (Christie Greenawalt), both of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Jason and Sean Hayman, Veronica Hupfer, and Jared Timchak; two great granddaughters, Kylie and Chelbi Hayman; and two sisters, Mary Ann Schlimm of St. Marys and Edna Plank and her husband Ed of Sweet Valley, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Hupfer who died in infancy; and a brother, Richard Hupfer.

Bob was a member of the Queen of the World Church.  He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean War from 1951-1953 and was assigned to the Tokyo Ordnance Corp. Optical Division.  He was a lifelong member of the Moose, American Legion, and VFW and he enjoyed photography.

There will be no visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
