Robert J.D. Barr, 84, of 139 Poplar Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, September 17, 2026.
He was born May 20, 1942 in Greenock, PA, son of the late Earl M. and Wilhelmina Schmidt Barr. He was a graduate of Sheffield High School, Class of 1961 and was employed at Stackpole for twenty-three years and retired from Abbott Furnace.
On April 15, 1982, in St. Marys, Bob married Patricia Erich, who survives. They were blessed to share 45 years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four daughters: Letitia Bauer (Darren) of St. Marys, Alison Lindenmuth (Scott) of St. Marys, Renee Catalone of St. Marys, and Barbara Dippold (Mike Rosenhoover) of St. Marys; two sons: Adam Barr (Emily) of Kentucky and Matthew Barr (Jackie) of Iowa; two step-daughters: Connie Vollmer (Ryan) of St. Marys and Amy Rivera of Arizona; and three step-sons: Shawn Fledderman (Stella) of St. Marys, Eric Fledderman of St. Marys, and Fred Fledderman of St. Marys; eleven grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters: Janet Baluch and Marlene Buerk; his brother, William Barr; and by three great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing and was an avid Steelers fan. Bob was a member of the American Legion and served as Director of the St. Marys Area Quarterback Club. He was proud to be one of the original coordinators for youth football in the area.
More than anything, Bob loved his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00AM, with Pastor David Pflieger officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday morning, from 10:00AM until the time of the service.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail, 168 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to Penn Highlands Community Nurses Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857.
