Robert P. Auman, 84, of 310 George Street, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
He was born April 1, 1927 in St. Marys, son of the late Leonard J. and Florence Kerner Auman. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Parochial School and Central Catholic High School. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Co., retiring in 1987 after 40 years of service.
On June 16, 1951 in the St. Mary’s Church, he married Margery M. Dippold, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Debra L. (Todd) Greiner of Ridgway; two sons, Thomas L. (Christine) Auman and Timothy S. Auman, both of St. Marys; five grandchildren, Julie K. Collins, Jodi L. Guisto, Benji Auman, Robbie Auman and Tommie Auman; five great grandchildren, Brennan, Dylan, Nathan, Noah and Kate; and two brothers, Kenneth Auman and Richard Auman, both of St. Marys.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David R. Auman, who passed away May 25, 2004.
Mr. Auman was a member of the St. Mary’s Church, a Veteran of WWII having served in the Army, a member of the American Legion and a former board member of the St. Mary’s Cemetery. He was a member of the CYMA where he served as Director for 34 years and was a member of the CYMA bowling teams. He was also on the horseshoe pitching league at Bear Run for 40 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.
