Rita M. Weis, 71, of 149 West Condot Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 19, 2017, at her residence.
She was born August 11, 1946, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Charles and Ingeborg Nelson Brendel. She was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1964, and a graduate of St. Margaret’s School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. Rita worked in the Emergency and Operating Rooms at Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital and later worked for many years for Dr. Thacker at the Pain Clinic, from which she retired.
In July of 1967, Rita married Michael W. “Mick” Weis, who preceded her in death on May 3, 2013.
She is survived by a daughter, Leigh Aaron and her husband James of St. Marys; a son Brian Weis and his wife Sharon Sibley-Weis of Sellersville, PA; and by a granddaughter, Audrey South.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rita was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Dawn Brendel.
Rita was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Nurses’ Study Club and volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels and the Resale Shop. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Wally.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service to be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 11:00 AM, with Dave Catalano officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
