Rita M. Stauffer, 80, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Main Street, Kersey, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Penn Highlands Elk.
She was born September 30, 1937, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Robert C. and Antoinette Sweener Ackley. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1955. Rita was a former employee of Metaldyne and was also a driver for ATA.
Rita is survived by the father of her children, Blaine Stauffer, Sr., of St. Marys; five daughters, Terry Stauffer (Kim Hazlett) of Selinsgrove, PA, Dean Moss (Bill) of Smoaks, SC, Chrissy Dippold (Jay) of Kersey, Sharon Lundin (Rick) of Ridgway, and Lee Cleary of Westfield, NY; five sons, Blaine Stauffer II (Chris) of Rome, NY, Bernard Stauffer (Patty) of Montgomery Village, MD, Michael Stauffer (Trish) of St. Marys, Mark Stauffer (Susan) of St. Marys, and David Stauffer of St. Marys; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and by a brother, James Ackley (Rose) of Kersey.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by a grandson, Owen Lee Stauffer; a sister, Shirley Carnavole; and by a brother Robert Ackley, Jr.
Rita made banners for St. Boniface Church as well as for the Erie Diocese. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she loved her dog, Muffin.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, from 9:00 until 10:00 AM.
