Richard Thomas Sorg, 58, of 221 Beacon Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born November 5, 1953 in St. Marys, son of the late Thomas B. Sorg and Geraldine Rupprecht Sorg who survives of St. Marys. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1971. For 32 years he was employed by Lewis and Hockenberry. He also owned Richard T. Sorg Logging for 32 years.
On February 12, 1977, in the Queen of the World Church, he married Tina Mertz, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Pamela Feldbauer (David) of St. Marys, Carrie Sorg at home; two sons, Jedidiah R. Sorg (Jeannie) of St. Marys, Jake R. Sorg and his partner Laura Hockenberry at home; six grandchildren, James Spuzzillo, Tori Meyer, Toni Sorg, Courtney Sorg, Bella Feldbauer, Andrew Feldbauer; two sisters, Laura Snelick (Edward) of Kersey, Donna Sorg May of St. Marys; three brothers, Thomas Sorg of Colorado, Lyle Sorg of St. Marys, Jerome Sorg (Rose) of St. Marys; and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Sorg, who passed away April 3, 2010.
Mr. Sorg was a member of the Queen of the World Church, was an avid hunter and Nascar fan. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, farming and gardening. He was a past member of the St. Marys Quarterback Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
