Richard P. “Dick” Kronenwetter, 82, of 140 Bennett Road, Saint Marys, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Penn Highlands Elk. He was born June 13, 1932, in Saint Marys, son of the late Herman and Delores Fritz Kronenwetter. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1950. He was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Co., Gasbarre Products in Dubois, and GKN in Emporium. He retired from Fairview Sintered in 1996. He was last employed by WalMart.
On June 25, 1955, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Sandra Donahey and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Mary Kay Gleixner and her husband, Steve of Saint Marys; Judy Skrzypek and her husband Vince of Kersey; a son, Dan Kronenwetter and his wife, Charity of Glenwood, MD; 9 grandchildren, Molly Wolfel, Danielle Wolfel, Brian Skrzypek, Amber Skrzypek, Jennifer Skrzypek, Michelle Skrzypek, David Skrzypek, Aiden Kronenwetter, and Noah Kronenwetter; and two brothers, Gene Kronenwetter and his wife, Pat of Kersey; and Joseph Kronenwetter of North Carolina.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, was a veteran of Korean War, and served in Germany with the 17th Signal Ops. Battalion. His hobby was woodworking and spent time selling his crafts at different craft shows in the local area and in the Jamestown, NY area. Richard was a member of the Chautauqua County Society of Artists.
He was the past-president of the SHAPE Organization at Sacred Heart, past-president of the Music Boosters of Elk County Catholic High School, vice-chairman of the Mothers, Fathers, and Friends of ECCHS. He was a retired lifetime member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Chapter 128. He received a Certificate of Engineering from the Chicago Tech College in Chicago, IL, and a certificate in Mechanical Engineering from I.C.S. in Scranton, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 9:30 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt OSB, pastor as celebrant. Full military rites will be accorded by the Saint Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
