Richard J. “Dick” Feidler Sr., 85, a resident of the DuBois Nursing Home and formerly of 1188 Million Dollar Highway, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at the nursing home after an illness of the past several months.
He was born November 25, 1926, in St. Marys, son of the late Chauncey and Theresa Schafeman Feidler. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Kersey Schools. He was a retired employee of Cotter Olds where he had worked for 41 years.
On September, 25, 1948, he married Mary Verna Tyler. She preceded him in death December 28, 1988. On May 2, 1992, in the Byrnedale Church, he married Betty Rohrbach of DuBois, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Richard J. (Barb) Feidler Jr. of Kersey, David A. (Shelly) Feidler of St. Marys, Donald J. (Lois) Feidler of Brockport; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two stepsons; Mack (Wanda) Schreiber of State College, Bob (Susie) Schreiber of Ohio; four brothers: Leonard (Veronica) Feidler of Weedville, Jerome (Joyce) Feidler of St. Marys, Clarence (Patty) Feidler of St. Marys and Norman (Shirley) Feidler of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Dustin Feidler; four sisters: Martha Minechelli, Dorothy Knouse, Helen Feidler and Esther Glance; and two brothers, Robert and James Feidler.
Mr. Feidler was a lifelong member of the St. Boniface Church, life member of the Kersey Eagles, member of the American Legion, was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy in Midway and Pearl Harbor. He will be remembered for his devotion to his faith, family and friends, his love of work, all things mechanical, traveling, gardening, the outdoors and family get-togethers and cookouts.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church in Kersey on Tuesday at 10:00 AM with the Rev. James Faluszczak, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
