Richard T. Heary, 75, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Goodyear, AZ, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Elk Haven, after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 15, 1940, in St. Marys, son of the late Edward J. and Estella M. Haggerty Heary. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1958. He was a grade school and Community College teacher in Arizona and in his early years, he worked for the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Heary is survived by a sister, Janet Wolfe and her husband Richard L. of St. Marys; and by two brothers, Edward Heary and Jackie Fendon of State College and Frank Heary of Reynoldsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marian Walker, Audrey Heary, and Alice Stubler; and by a brother, Jerome Heary.
Mr. Heary was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Arizona.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
