Quentin R. Smith, 94, formerly of 620 Lehner Avenue, St. Marys, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
He was born September 9, 1931 in St. Marys, son of the late Jerome and Louise Cunningham Smith. He grew up in Johnsonburg and graduated from Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1950. Quentin served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1951 until 1954. He worked for Keystone Carbon Company before taking over ownership in the family business at Smith Motors.
On August 27, 1955, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Quentin married Phyllis Wittman, who survives. They were blessed to share seventy years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, Quentin is survived by three daughters: Sharon Buchheit (Donald), Debra Straub (Cory), and Linda Greenthaner (Bruce); two sons: Steven Smith (Missy) and Richard Smith (Michele); fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ina Smith.
In addition to his parents, Quentin was preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas and William Smith.
A faithful Catholic throughout his life, he was deeply devoted to his faith and was an active member of the Cursillo Movement, where he formed many lasting friendships and shared his commitment to Christian Service.
Quentin enjoyed polka music and was a proud supporter and member of the Polka Boosters. He was an avid hunter, golfer, and gardener and treasured his time outdoors with his family and friends.
Above all else, he was a devoted family man. His greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved, and leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Silver Creek Terrace and Elk Haven Nursing Home for their kindness and compassionate care given to their father.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 12:00PM. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 10:00 until 11:30AM.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Erie Cursillo Movement, 429 E. Grandview Boulevard, Erie, PA 16504.
