Peggy Joyce Breindel, 85, of 470 South Michael Street, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home, after an illness of the past several months.
She was born March 24, 1931, in Ayden, NC, daughter of the late Benjamin and Lucy Nichols Heath. She had resided in St. Marys since 1954. Peggy was a self-employed caterer for many years, catering weddings and other functions in the area. She also worked many years at the CMF and Elks Clubs.
On December 26, 1953, in Annapolis, MD, she married Ivan C. “Tarzan” Breindel, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Conway and her husband Jeffrey of Cape May, NJ; five sons, Ralph J. Breindel and his wife Charlene of Downingtown, PA, Allen C. Breindel and his wife JoAnn of Warren, PA, Wayne A. Breindel and his wife Mary Jo of Weedville, Donald W. Breindel and his wife Jocelyn of Kersey, and Harold S. Breindel and his wife Amy of Goldboro, NC; 14 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Tyson, Margaret Vandiford, Edna Owens, and Shirley Stearlings; and two brothers, Harold and Will Heath. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Peggy was a member of the St. Mary’s Church and volunteered at the Elk County Catholic High School cafeteria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, June 19, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
