Patricia A. Brock

Dec 28, 1936 — Jun 21, 2026

Patricia A. “Patty” Brock, 89, of 739 Maurus Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Sunday, June 21, 2026.

She was born December 28, 1936, in the St. Joseph’s Convent, daughter to the late Carl J. and Ann Gorman Straub.

She always valued education and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1954.  She then went on to Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she earned her Bachelor’s degree and later earned her Master’s degree in Education from Clarion University. She retired from South St. Marys Street Elementary School in 1995, where she taught second grade for many years, and was beloved both by her students and others who wish they could have been.  She had a gift for listening and a maternal heart that drew people to her to unburden themselves and find encouragement.

On December 26, 1959, in Queen of the World Church, she married the late Harry J. Brock, who preceded her in death on July 15, 2021.

Patty was a woman of faith, elegance, and service.  She was a devout Catholic throughout her life and served as chair of the finance committee of the Sacred Heart Parish Council.  She was very involved in Elk County Right to Life, acting as president and giving talks.  She served as chairperson of the board of Straub Brewery for many years, one of her proudest accomplishments.  Patty lived for her family and greatly enjoyed family gatherings, both with her children and grandchildren, and with her sisters and their families.  She was very sociable and delighted in getting together with friends and playing cards.  She loved spending time outdoors at camp, walking in the woods and cross-country skiing.  After retiring she and Harry traveled extensively to destinations like Hawaii, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Croatia and Honduras.

She is survived by her two sons: Fr. Herald Brock, CFR of Paterson, NJ and William Brock (Kate) of St. Marys; two grandchildren: Hannah Brock of St. Marys and William Brock of Washington, DC; three sisters: Carlene Koch, Mary Bea Maloney (Dutch), and Rita Asti, all of St. Marys; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 12:00PM with her son, Fr. Herald Brock, CFR, celebrating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 9:30AM until 11:30AM.
