Nellie J. Himes, 87, of 207 Irishtown Road, Kersey, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011 at her residence.
She was born April 4, 1924 in Kane, daughter of the late Charles W. and Mary Merle Brown Hepler. She had lived in the area for the past 69 years. She attended Kane Area Schools.
On May 27, 1942 in Kane, she married Harry A. Himes, Sr. who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Barbara J. Burton (James) of Kersey; four sons, Harry A. Himes, Jr. (Jacquelyn) of Kersey, John C. Himes (Linda) of Kersey, Charles J. “Jake” Himes (Ginger) of Kersey, James E. Himes of Kersey; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Sloan of Kane.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Edna Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor, Mildred Hillard, Bertha Rung, and Lou Lewis; and by a brother, Wilson Hepler.
Mrs. Himes attended the Faith Baptist Church and she enjoyed camping, canning and baking, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Brad Butler, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
