Nancy R. Weis

Nancy R. Weis, 77, of 203 Dippold Avenue, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends at the Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 30, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY, daughter of the late Grover and Christine Garvey Rodenbaugh.  She was a 1954 graduate of the Lewiston-Porter High School in Youngstown, NY and was a 1958 graduate of the Buffalo State College for Teachers.  She was a retired teacher and had resided in St. Marys since 1961.

On July 29, 1961 in the St. Bernard’s Church in Youngstown, NY, she married Donald T. Weis, who survives.  She is also survived by four daughters, Karen Glatt and her husband Michael of Bridgeport, WV, twin daughters, Laura Ehrensberger and her husband Richard of St. Marys and Lisa Weis of Panama City, FL, and Jane Rupprecht and her husband Ronald of St. Marys; a son, Donald R. Weis of St. Marys; seven grandchildren, Erica Glatt Paul and her husband Adam, Elissa Glatt, Rachel Ehrensberger, Madalyn Ehrensberger, Steven Weis and his wife Amber, Devin Weis, and Jacob Weis; two great grandchildren, Beau Weis and Michaela Paul; a brother-in-law, John F. “Jack” Weis and his wife Kathleen of Wildwood, NJ; and by nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Hutchinson, Madalyn Thompson, and Marjorie Miles; and a brother, Grover J. Rodenbaugh.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

Nancy was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, where she served as a Eucharist Minister.  She was a teacher at the South St. Marys Street Elementary School for 35 years, a member of PSEA and the NEA, and the In-Town Gardeners of St. Marys.  She was an avid reader and a Heavenly Duster at her church.  She enjoyed her luncheons and playing cards with her friends at the Village Peddler, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Through her teaching she inspired many young children’s lives.  She enjoyed teaching every day.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
