Nancy J. Smith, age 75, of 526 Armory Road, Saint Marys, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
She was born August 5, 1939 in Mercer, PA, daughter of the late Darrell K. and Alice Atlanta Crawford Jewell. She had been a resident of the area since 1968. She was a graduate of Mercer High School Class of 1957 and a graduate of Edinboro State Teachers College where she received her BA and Masters Degrees. She was a retired teacher having taught Math for a time in the Ridgway School District and retired from the Saint Marys School District having been both a teacher and Guidance Counselor.
On August 18, 1962, in Sharpsville United Methodist Church, she married William F. Smith whom survives.
She is also survived by a daughter; Michelle Ann Thomas-Grissinger and her husband Scott of Camp Hill, PA; two sons: Douglas W. Smith and his wife Linda of Saint Marys and Scott A. Smith and his wife Tara of Butler, PA.; four grandchildren: Justin Smith, Maddigan Smith, Kaili Thomas, Valerie Schauer; three great-grandchildren Cole Schauer, Ryan Schauer and Jakob Schauer; five sisters: Judy Redzinak (Bill) of Sharon, PA; Mary Alice Marsh (Albert) of West Middlesex, PA; Rhonda Rust of Franklin, PA; Debra Stone (Brad) of Grove City, PA; Darlene Jewell of Polk, PA and two brothers: Robert Jewell (Linda) of Sharpsville, PA and Richard Jewell (Jeanette) of Sharpsville, PA.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Jewell in infancy; Ralph Wayne Jewell and by a granddaughter Robin Meyer
She was a member of the Saint Marys United Methodist Church and was an active member in the Church’s Women’s Society. She was a Bible School teacher and a member of the Eastern Star and the PSEA.
Funeral Services will be held in the United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 2:00 PM with the Reverend J. Tim Hoover, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, Saint Marys, PA on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
