On April 25, 1987, in St. Marys, Butch married Gail (Hanes) Hanlin, who survives.

In addition to his loving wife, Butch is survived by a son, Shane Sheley (Jacki) of High Point, NC; his daughter, Roberta “Bobbie” Meyer (Gordon) of St. Marys; step-daughter, Vicki Johnson (Scott) of St. Marys; step-son, Anthony Meyer (Tracy) of Winchester, VA; seven grandchildren: Paige Sheley, Rebecca Sheley, Brianna Meyer, Dylan Meyer, Kyla Johnson, Ava Johnson, and Jack Meyer; and four great-grandchildren and his dog Lily.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and James Sheley; and a sister, Marilyn in infancy.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Butch was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Enterprise and was very proud of his service to his country.  Butch retired from West Penn Power after 25 yrs.   He was an avid Steelers fan, loved to cook and golf, played the mandolin and accordion and had a lifelong passion of woodworking.  Over the years he enjoyed making furniture for his family and friends.   Butch’s love for his wife Gail and family was undeniable and he will be missed every day.
