Maureen C. Wittman

Maureen C. Wittman, 73, of 618 Vermont Road, St. Marys, passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at her home, after a lengthy bout with cancer.

She was born April 3, 1943, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Hilary “Jack” and Martha Brennan Schatz. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961.

On September 15, 1962, in the St. Mary’s Church, she married John L. Wittman, who survives. Maureen is also survived by two daughters, Margaret DeLong and her husband Richard of Kane and Julia Braccia of Doylestown, PA; four sons, Thomas Wittman and his wife Bonnie of Mulica Hill, NJ, John Wittman and his wife Deana of St. Marys, Timothy Wittman and his wife Alejandra of Hibernia, NJ, and William Wittman and his wife Christie of St. Marys; and 12 grandchildren, Vito Braccia, Tommy Wittman, Robby Wittman, Abby Wittman, Hannah Wittman, Johnny Wittman, Evan DeLong, Erik DeLong, Gabby Wittman, Michael Wittman, Maddy Wittman, and Cameron Resch.  She is also survived by a sister, Nancy Votano and her husband Louis of Johnsonburg; and by two brothers, Jack Schatz and his wife Samantha of Liberty Twp., OH and Briant Schatz and his wife Sue of Blue Jay, CA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Calahan.

Maureen was a member of the St. Mary’s Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed playing tennis and dominoes with her friends and vacationing with her family.  She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and farming.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Friday, October 28, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
