Mary Lee Vollmer

Mary Lee Vollmer, 85, of 106 Jackson Road, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the home of her son, Greg, after a lengthy illness.

She was born October 6, 1938, in Kersey, daughter of the late Dale and Julia Distler Green.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School.

On April 22, 1960, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Rectory, she married Edward J. Vollmer, who preceded her in death on November 24, 1998.  Also preceding her in death in 2021 was her daughter Jean.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Vollmer of St. Marys; five sons: Tom Vollmer, Steve Vollmer (Kaye), Randy Vollmer, Greg Vollmer, and Eric Vollmer, all of St. Marys; two grandchildren; and by her brother, Dave “Buck” Green of Kersey.

Mary was a kind and loving wife, mother, and homemaker who was happiest at home with her family.  She almost never raised her voice and did not speak ill of people.  She was sweet and had a good sense of humor.  She loved jewelry, owls, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The last two years she enjoyed regular Sunday picnics and dinners with her family at Greg’s home.

Mary passed peacefully surrounded by her beloved children who doted on her and nursed her in her last months.  She is now at rest with her husband Ed, daughter Jean, and brothers Bill, Don, and Eugene “Harry”, and her little dog Cody who passed before her.

May she be restored in God’s grace.

A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 10:30 AM, with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday morning, from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
