Mary Immaculate Sarginger

Mary Immaculate Sarginger, 90, of 1781 Bucktail Road, St. Marys, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born February 4, 1926, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Fiore and Brunina Vavala Tripodi. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1944.  She had been a church organist since 1943.

On February 27, 1954, in the Holy Rosary Church, she married Melvin E. Sarginger, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2010.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Denio (Steve) of Kersey and Virginia Wall (Robert) of Pueblo, CO; six sons, Edward Sarginger of St. Marys, John Sarginger of St. Marys, Joseph Sarginger (Kathryn) of Phoenix, AZ, Raymond Sarginger of St. Marys, Richard Sarginger (Glenda) of St. Marys, and Roger Sarginger (Wendy) of St. Marys; 13 grandchildren, Bradley Johnston, Kevin Sarginger, John Sarginger, Timothy Sarginger, Michael Sarginger, Jesse Sarginger, Kyle Sarginger, Rachel Sarginger, Shawna Miller, Rebecca Miller, Chris “Bert” Sarginger, Natasha Wall, and Erin Wall; and eight great grandchildren.  She is also survived by three brothers, F. Peter Tripodi (Grace) of Johnsonburg, Stephen Tripodi (Florence “Topper”) of Florida, and Joseph Tripodi (Bobbie) of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Ann Sarginger of St. Marys; and by aunts and uncles.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Tassone.

Mary was a member of the Queen of the World Church, where she served as church organist from 1955 to 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 12:30 PM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
