Margaret M. “Margie” Schatz, 93, of Kersey, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
She was born March 30, 1933 in St. Marys, oldest daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Keller Hoffman. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1951.
On July 30, 1954, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Margie married Francis V. Schatz, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2002.
Margie is survived by her daughters: Mary Kay Hilyer of Kane and Susan Lindenmuth (Daniel) of St. Marys; her sons: David Schatz (Valerie) of Bath, PA and Brian Schatz (Ann Marie) of Kersey; six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Christopher, Rebecca, Ashley, Joshua, and Amanda; three great-grandchildren: Zoey, Charlie, Linclon; five sisters: Audrey Assalone of Kersey, Jean Schreiber of St. Marys, Esther Brown (Dave) of St. Marys, Rita Miller (Thomas) of Brockport, and Helen Cristoff of Brockway; three brothers: Melvin Hoffman of St. Marys, Louis Hoffman of Kersey, and Gerard Hoffman (Odelia) of Kersey; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters: Kathleen, Mary Ann, Veronica, and Frances.
She was a devoted and faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. For thirty-seven years, she lovingly dedicated her time to maintaining the church as a domestic engineer, ensuring it remained a welcoming and beautiful place for all who entered.
Margie found joy in the simple pleasures of life-tending to her garden, caring for her yard and expressing her creativity through painting. Known for her kind heart and thoughtful nature, she was a good friend to many. Her life was a testament to faith, kindness, and steady devotion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 12:00PM with Rev. Ignatius Camello, O.S.B., celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 10:00AM until 11:30AM.
