Margaret A. “Tonie” Eckert, 92, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 1471 Rosely Road, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at Elk Haven following a brief illness.
She was born July 26, 1923, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Marco and Helen Delisimunovic Paropacic. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools. She was a former employee of the G.C. Murphy Company.
On November 16, 1946, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Floyd J. “Boomer” Eckert, who preceded her in death on August 3, 2011.
Mrs. Eckert is survived by two daughters, Sandy Wehler and her husband Allen of St. Marys and Debbie Nussbaum and her husband Rick of St. Marys; two sons, Gerald J. Eckert and his wife Shirley of St. Marys and Richard J. Eckert and his wife Darlene of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Gies and Rose Ginther; and two brothers, Paul Paropacic and Ed Paropacic. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Eckert was a member of the Queen of the World Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She loved to play bingo and cards and she especially loved spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, October 12, 2015, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
