Louis B. Luchini

Louis B. Luchini, 90, of 118 Dagus Mines Road, Kersey, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Elk Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 21, 1923 in South Kersey, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Antonioli Luchini.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Kersey Schools.  He was a retired employee of Airco Speer, retiring in 1985 after 44 ½ years of service.

On May 9, 1953 in the St. Boniface Church, he married Hazel L. Lavella, who survives.  He is also survived by two daughters, Paulette Schreiber and her husband Rob of Kersey and Barbara Handwerger and her husband Joseph of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Joseph Schreiber, Rachel Schreiber, Kristin Handwerger, and Zachary Handwerger; a sister, Carolyn Miller and her husband James of State College; and two brothers, Joseph Luchini, Jr. of Kersey and Samuel Luchini and his wife Betty of Kersey.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Luchini, Vincent Luchini and Francis Luchini.

Mr. Luchini was a member of the St. Boniface Church.  He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served as a Sergeant in the 475th ATBN in the Pacific Theatre, and was a member of the Dagus Mines American Legion.  He was a former member of the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail and the Fox Twp. Lions Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He recently celebrated a very happy 90th birthday and enjoyed the many cards and wishes from family and friends.

Due to the renovation of the St. Boniface Church, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. James Faluszczak officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, March 25, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
