Louis “Manny” Chiappelli, Jr., 94, of 1079 Theresia Street, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1927, in Weedville, son of the late Louis and Jennie Riccadonna Chiappelli, Sr. Manny attended Weedville schools and contributed greatly to the area throughout his life. He was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed his work. He retired as a superintendent for PennDot and had ownership stakes in several different companies such as: Thompson & Montgomery Cement Co., Olympic Lanes, and Boulevard Lanes.
On November 9, 1946, in the Sacred Heart Church, Manny married the late Alberta Caskey, who passed away on February 2, 1963. Manny was blessed to find happiness again, marrying the late Aileen M. Wilson Cochran, who preceded him in death on November 22, 1997.
He is survived by four daughters: Diane Gillen (David) of Kersey, Lou Ann Lecker (David) of St. Marys, Joann Hetrick (David) of St. Marys, and MaryAnn Feldbauer (David) of St. Marys; one son, Louis Chiappelli III, (Paula) of St. Marys; one step-son, John Cochran (Kitsy) of Richmond, VA; fourteen grandchildren: Shawn Gillen, Dawn Siddens, Brian Gillen, Nicky Mattivi, Richard Gustafson, D.J. Hetrick, Jeremy Hetrick, Louie Chiappelli IV, Tony Chiappelli, Leann Newell, Michael Feldbauer, Bridget Cochran, Priscilla Cochran, and Cathleen Cochran; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dolores Floravit of Weedville, Irene Muccio of Weedville, and Janice Kinsler of Emporium; and by one brother, Donald Chiappelli (Nancy) of Force.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two sons in infancy: Jeffrey Allen Chiappelli and Joseph John Chiappelli; two sisters: Rose “Babe” Klaiber and Elda Benigni; and a son-in-law, Donald “Buzzy” Gustafson.
Manny was a member of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country in World War II on the USS Augusta. He was always active, in his younger years, Manny played for the Colts and always enjoyed being outdoors. He valued his role as caretaker at Trout Run, enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada, and the winter months he spent in Florida with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 9:00AM until 10:00AM at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10:00AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
