Leo E. Ehrensberger

November 28, 2017 — February 16, 1943

Leo E. Ehrensberger, 74, of 802 South Michael Road, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born February 16, 1943, in St. Marys, son of the late Alcuin E. and Amanda M. Grotzinger Ehrensberger. He was a lifelong resident of the area, was a graduate of St. Vincent Preparatory School, Class of 1961, and also a 1965 graduate of St. Vincent College.  After college, he entered the Peace Corps, serving for two years in Afghanistan.  Leo was a retired accountant/controller of Carbon Graphite, retiring in 2007 after 34 years of service.

On February 7, 1970, in the Queen of the World Church, Leo married Ruth W. “Bunny” Wehler, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Kelly Breindel and her husband Bob of St. Marys; a son, Aaron Ehrensberger and his wife Jodi of State College; two grandchildren, Austin and Kylie; three sisters, Ruth Ehrensberger of Easton, MD, Carolyn Wissenbach of Washington, PA, and Alice Bull and her husband James of Shamokin, PA; a brother, George J. Ehrensberger and his wife Sandie of St. Marys; and by a brother-in-law, Dick Pavlock of St. Marys.

In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Pavlock; and by a brother-in-law, Tom Wissenbach.

Leo was a member of the Queen of the World Church where he was a volunteer for the church bereavement lunches and a former Eucharistic Minister. In addition, he volunteered at the Christian Food Bank.  Leo was also a board member on the St. Marys Water Authority, where he served as Treasurer for 34 years.  He was a former member of the Economic Development Council.

Leo was an avid golfer and member of the Leaning Pines Golf Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren and watching their activities.  He was an active St. Vincent Alumni and was inducted into the Prep Hall of Fame earlier this year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Jeff Noble, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
