Lee F. Stauffer

Leander “Lee” F. Stauffer, 83, of 918 Hickory Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2025 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.

Lee was born April 19, 1942, in St. Marys, son of the late Francis and Margaret Heser Stauffer. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1960, and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

On June 17, 1967, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lee married Carol Distler, who survives. They were blessed to share fifty-eight years of marriage.

In addition to his loving wife, Lee is survived by his daughter, Melissa Brody (Lee) of Pittsburgh; two sons: John Stauffer (Wendy) of Damascus, MD and Joseph Stauffer (Kim) of St. Marys; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by a son, Rick Stauffer, and his sister, Grace Brehun.

Lee was a faithful parishioner at Queen of the World Church, where he also served as an usher. He was also a member of the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail for many years. Lee was an avid hunter and fisherman, tended to his vegetable garden, and was a man that enjoyed tinkering and fixing almost anything. He enjoyed coaching youth sports and took an active leadership role with the Boy Scouts. Lee had an immense love for his family and took great joy outside in the yard with his friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Queen of the World Church on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 11:00AM with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, celebrating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

There will be no visitation.
