Leander C. Meyer, 75, of 185 Center Street, Elk Towers, St. Marys and formerly of 871 Vine Road, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born November 16, 1936 in St. Marys, son of the late James and Regina Young Meyer. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1955. He was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company.
On November 14, 1959 in the Queen of the World Church, he married Margaret “Margie” Koch, who preceded him in death on March 3, 2009.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary (David) Reuscher of California and Vicki (Patrick) Struble of St. Marys; six sons, Jude (Amy) Meyer of
Summerville, SC, Carl (Jen) Meyer of Rifle, CO, John (Dawn) Meyer of Bradford, Scott (Cathy) Meyer of Kersey, Andrew (Pam) Meyer of Boise, ID and James (Heather) Meyer of Greensburg; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Alice (Walter) Snelick of Kersey; one brother, Bernie (Mary) Meyer of St. Marys; and a sister-in-law, Gretchen Meyer of St. Marys.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Meyer.
Mr. Meyer was a member of the Queen of the World Church and was a Veteran of the Army.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Daniel Wolfel, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
