Kurt L. Nyquist, 69, of 295 Coal Hollow Road, Kersey, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College after an illness of the past year.
He was born May 5, 1944 in Ridgway, son of the late Albert E. and Ruth B. Brown Nyquist. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1962. He also earned an associate degree from Penn State DuBois. He was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company for 30 years and retired from Contact Technologies.
On June 4, 1969 in Ridgway, he married Linda L. Hodgson, who preceded him in death on October 21, 2007.
He is survived by a son, Kurt J. Nyquist and his wife Heather of Bellefonte, PA; and two grandsons, Tyler Nyquist and Evan Nyquist.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Mesko, and a brother, James Nyquist. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Mr. Nyquist was a member of the Maria Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam Era, and was a member of the Fox Twp. Burial Detail. He also enjoyed hunting.
Funeral services will be held in the Maria Lutheran Church on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Eric Hart, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the Maria Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 PM.
