Kenneth H. Bish

Kenneth H. Bish, 50, of 365 North St. Marys Street, St. Marys, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a two year battle with cancer.

He was born May 23, 1971, in St. Marys, son of Lyle Bish, who survives of St. Marys, and the late Karen Hacherl Bish, who preceded him in death in 1999.  Ken was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1989.  After graduation, Ken served in the United States Air Force from 1989 until 1993.  Upon returning home, he worked alongside his father in the family business, St. Marys Beverage, later becoming owner.

On September 14, 2002, in the St. Leo’s Church in Ridgway, Ken married Terese “Terri” Carnovale, who survives.

In addition to his wife and father, Ken is survived by his sons: Rudy and Louis Bish of St. Marys; his step-children: Abby DePetro and her husband Anthony of Pittsburgh, Katie Kline and her husband Dillon of St. Marys, and Bruno Cavalline of St. Marys; three grandchildren: Frankie Kline, Joelle Kline, and Nolan DePetro; two sisters: Missy Grunenwald of St. Marys and Alicia Hetrick of St. Marys; his brother, Doug Bish of St. Marys; and by his mother-in-law, Rosemary Carnovale of St. Marys.

Ken was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and was active in the local Cursillo Movement.  He coached boys’ junior high soccer for Elk County Catholic High School as well as the recreational league and brought indoor soccer tournaments to St. Marys.  Ken was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and started the St. Leo’s Fishing Derby in Ridgway.

During the time Ken spent at the Cursillo weekend, he was challenged to love others as Jesus had loved him.  Ken embraced this challenge of simply loving others.  This had a tremendous impact on Ken as he demonstrated his love to each and every person that he met.  Ken wanted everyone to know just how special they were and anyone who encountered him walked away a better person.  Of all Ken’s accomplishments, his family was his greatest.  He was so very proud of his children. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, Pastor, and Rev. Canice McMullen, OSB, concelebrating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.
