Keith J. Knouse, 82, of Burke, VA and a former St. Marys resident, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the home of his daughter, Annette Kohn of Burke, VA, after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 8, 1930 in St. Marys, son of the late Roland “Tex” H. and Lavina Klein Knouse. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1949. He was a retired employee of Quality Components, retiring in 1994 after over 30 years of service.
On July 15, 1961 in the St. Mary’s Church, he married Theresia M. Rettger, who preceded him in death on September 11, 2005.
He is survived by a daughter, Annette Kohn and her husband John of Burke, VA; a son, Colonel, USAF (Retired) Edgar M. Knouse and his wife Diana Chadwick of Oroklini, Cyprus; five grandchildren, Jonathan Kohn, Keith Kohn, Aaron Kohn, Nigel Knouse and Melissa Barke; three great grandsons, Graysen Catlett, Christopher Barke and Andrew Barke; a sister, Linda Adair and her husband Thomas of Laughlintown, PA; and two brothers, Russell Knouse of San Antonio, TX and Donald Knouse of Lilburn,GA.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Knouse, who died at childbirth; and a sister, Nancy Snelick.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, where he served as an usher, a USAF Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
