Kathryn R. “Kay” Mahovlich

Kathryn R. “Kay” Mahovlich, 83, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of 203 Columbus Street, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Pinecrest Manor, after a brief illness.

She was born January 23, 1935, in St. Marys, daughter of the late George J. and Irene Zelt Rigard. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Public High School, Class of 1954.  Kay was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring after 32 years of service.

On May 25, 1973, in the St. Boniface Church, Kay married George F. Mahovlich, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1988.

She is survived by a son, George A. “Andy” Mahovlich of St. Marys; a sister, Mary Maholtz of Middletown, VA; her nieces, Cathy Javersak, Gerry Pearsall, Lisa Meyer, Chris Leach, and Lynn Krug; her nephews, Robert, Michael, Patrick, and David Maholtz, and Tom Miller; several great nieces and great nephews; a sister-in-law, Jean Miller of St. Marys; and by a special cousin, Dorothy Mallette and her husband George of Kersey.

Kay was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the Quarter Century Club of Stackpole Carbon, and the North Central Slovenian Polka Boosters.

There will be no visitation.

A Funeral Service is being held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
