Judy A. Pontious, 55, of 496 Washington Street, St. Marys, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017, at her home after an illness of the past year.
She was born October 31, 1961, in DuBois, daughter of Walter H. Stauffer who survives of St. Marys and her mother, Grace E. Smith Stauffer, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her stepmother, Sylvia Stauffer.
Judy was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, class of 1979. She was formerly employed as a St. Marys School crossing guard, worked at Rick’s Dough Boys, and at the St. Marys High School cafeteria.
On September 12, 1987, in St. Marys, she married David W. Pontious and he survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Taryn M. Pontious of St. Marys; a son, Jacob D. Pontious and his companion, Diana McMinn of St. Marys; a granddaughter, Grace J. Pontious; a brother, Walter H. Stauffer, Jr. and his wife Karen of St. Marys; a stepsister, Lisa VanAlstine and her husband Charles of St. Marys; and by aunts, uncles, & cousins.
Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Stauffer, in infancy; and by a stepbrother, Jeff Lamb.
Judy was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed Halloween, as she organized and ran the Haunted House on Brusselles Street. She also enjoyed NASCAR, ghost hunting, and all the kids at the elementary and high school. Judy especially enjoyed her granddaughter, Grace.
Funeral services will be held in the Shiloh Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Scott Weist, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Protestant Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
