Joseph W. Lynch, Jr. of Center Street in St Marys passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on October 8, 2026 at the age of 89.

Joe was born on August 2, 1937 in Butler, Pennsylvania, eldest son to the late Joseph and Angela (Dieteman) Lynch and lived most of his life in St. Marys.

Joe graduated from Central Catholic High School Class of 1955 and from Villanova University in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 7 years.

He married Alice T. Pfeufer on August 27, 1960 at Queen of the World Church.

He was employed by Keystone Powdered Metal Company for 43 years. He worked as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process and Quality Engineer, and a Quality Manager. While at Keystone, Joe brought many new process capabilities and quality systems, enabling new products to be manufactured.

Joe was a longtime member and volunteer at Sacred Heart Parish as Finance Committee Chairman, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, founding member of SHAPE parish school committee, and volunteered for various parish fund campaigns and planning committees.

Additionally he was a member and certified engineer of American Society for Quality Control and Treasurer of the local society section for many years; a member of the Knights of Columbus; former member and past President of the St. Marys Community Nurses board of directors; founding committee member of the Elk County Diabetes Organization; formerly active in the Elk County Cursillo movement; and delivered Meals on Wheels on Sundays for many years.

Joe was an avid reader. He was particularly gifted in mathematics. He assembled one of the first home computers in St. Marys in the 1970s. He enjoyed playing cards and games with his family.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by a large family including three children: William J. Lynch (Jenn Wolff), Cynthia M. Dollinger (Dan), and Kristin J. Lynch (Aubree). Additionally he is survived by 17 grandchildren including Alyson, Nicklas, Elizabeth, Christopher, Andrea, Jonathan, Timothy, Marcella, Emily, Joan, Anthony, Luke, Jacob, Patrick, Maria, Joseph, and John and by six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son in infancy, Alphonse Lynch, his sister Lois Mallison, his brothers Edward and George Lynch, and his brother-in-law Robert Mallison. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857, on Friday October 16, 2026 at 10:00am with Fr. Ignatius Camello O.S.B., officiating. Full Military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Interment will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
